“Anna is Eternal” Gyula Juhász
Years came and went, you stayed away
From my memories slowly,
Your portrait faded in my heart,
The curves of your shoulders became obscure,
Your voice glided away, and I didn’t follow you
In the deeper and deeper forest of life.
Today I already say your name calmly,
Today I already don’t shiver from your glance,
Today I already know you were one from the lot
That youth is foolish, oh, but still
Don’t think, my heart, that this was in vain,
And that it’s entirely over, oh, don’t think so!
As you live in all of my crooked ties and confused words,
And in all of my missed greetings
And in all of my torn letters
And in all my wasted life
You live and rule forever, Amen.
